You are Enough!

Dear fellow sufferers from FOMO,

 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”“Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward. – Mark 9:39-41

You are enough! The person God has made you, the gifts He has blessed you with to serve Him and His Church, the place He has given you to do just that – it is enough.

Looking out on the landscape of ministry through the lens of social media challenges me far more than I ever thought possible. What others are doing – their successes and their failures displayed in living color – consumes me in a way that clearly shifts my focus from the life and work God has given to me. Jesus Himself gets very fuzzy while disappointment and envy grow sharp edges in my heart.

Thank you for always bringing Jesus back into clear focus for me. Your faithfulness in preaching, teaching and living is like a channel marker in a river whose current is strong and is filled with rocks and eddies.

My hope for you is that there are others who serve you in the same way – helping you to deal with the urges to compete or the feelings of being somehow “less than.”

Jesus is always calling us to look at Him, hear His voice and lean strong into the life He has given us!

You can spend your one life in a waiting room, waiting to be finally called in to another life, to see more joy, more fulfillment, more of the abundant life you dreamed of —- but you miss out on fully living the joy of your life, when you keep waiting for another life to make you joyful.
